Lantra Level 2/DSWA Intermediate Certificate Dry Stone Walling


Aim of Course
To give a greater understanding of the structure and finish of a Dry Stone Wall, how to build a wall end as part of a Dry Stone Wall.
To gain LANTRA Level 2 and the DSWA Intermediate qualification in Dry Stone Walling.
Course Objectives
A 100 hour practical course for those who want to improve their walling skills and achieve a qualification, which can be used as a foundation for higher Dry Stone Walling qualifications.  The course culminates in a 7 hour practical test conducted in the presence of an Examiner appointed by the DSWA.

  • Dismantle wall, identify and grade stone
  • Prepare trench and lay foundation stones
  • Build (first lift) wall
  • Place through-stones
  • Build (second lift) wall
  • Incorporate wall end
